So I saw this idea mentioned in another thread. We generally tend to see a ton of "Best UU and/or UB" threads, but I haven't seen one in quite a while dealing with buildings in general.
This is a problem.
Why? Well because buildings are a huge and potentially dangerous part of the game. N00bs like myself tend to blow all sorts of hammers on buildings that aren't actually useful - in fact, I would say that "build-itis" is one of the most common characteristics among new players.
So I would appreciate it if you guys, especially you experienced players out there, could rate the buildings. I'm including a list for you guys to copypasta and place ratings beside the buildings on a scale of 1-10, with a space for notes at the end of each era. Beside the rating, you can put another rating in brackets to indicate the building's usefulness for different leaders or civs. So something like this:
Monument: 7 (9 if Ethiopia; 1 if CRE)
Granary: 9 (10 if Inca or EXP)
Walls: 1
Temple: 5 (6 if SPI)
Monastery: 6
Library: 8 (9 if CRE or Arabia)
etc
Notes: Monument is useless for Inca
So, without further ado, I present the great list of Civ buildings:
ANCIENT ERA
Barracks
Monument
Granary
Library
Temple
Monastery
Walls
Stable
Lighthouse
Notes:
CLASSICAL ERA
Aqueduct
Colosseum
Courthouse
Harbor
Market
Forge
Theater
Notes:
MEDIEVAL ERA
Cathedral
Castle
Grocer
Bank
Notes:
RENAISSANCE ERA
Customs House
Jail
Security Bureau
University
Notes:
INDUSTRIAL ERA
Bomb Shelters
Bunker
Coal Plant
Drydock
Factory
Hospital
Industrial Park
Intelligence Agency
Levee
Nuclear Plant
Observatory
Public Transportation
Notes:
MODERN/FUTURE ERA
Airport
Broadcast Tower
Hydro Plant
Laboratory
Recycling Plant
Supermarket
Notes:
There you are. You don't have to do all of them if you don't want to, just as many as you've got the time for.
