300- Rise of an Empire

Hm, the trailer for this is now released:

link to video.

I did not really like the trailer. It seems that this is about the ongoing efforts of Xerxes to conquer Greece, leading to the battles of Plataea and Salamis. Artemisia, a Carian (Ionian region) who played an important role in those battles on account of Persia is also a main part of the movie.

Well, i did notice this little sentence in the synopsis from yahoo movies:

Quote:

Why is it so hard to just learn that Darius was nowhere near Marathon, and died later on, after quelling the revolt in Egypt? Datis and Artaphernis were commanding the Persian army that got destroyed in Marathon by mostly an Athenian force (there were a few Plataeans too there). Also, Xerxes never was face to face with Themistocles. He was murdered later on, back in Persia. Mardonius was the leader of the Persian army in Plataea, and got killed during that battle.

Anyway, from the trailer it does not look that good. The original 300 was decent, and had its moments as a stylized action film with few quotes from history, but this new film looks a bit less promising at the moment.
