So in recent years we have seen a near total internal destruction of the Republican Party. If you look the only areas of the country that the Republicans are still winning is the core Republican strong holds and are barely holding on in a few other places in hotly contested races. On a National level I believe the Republican party will be finished if they lose two more Presidential races. The wars, the economic crisis, and massive invasions of privacy/basic civil liberties has sealed their fate for at least the better part of the next 20 years. So the Republicans need to re-envision their party. I propose the following to both keep with their core beliefs while at the same time giving them the "open tent" as Reagen would say.
First: Stay the hell out of people's personal lives, ie. legalize abortion, stay out of health-care altogether, legalize gay marriage, accept diversity amongst your members and the public.
Second: Keep the guns, be reasonable though.
Third: Go back to the party of fiscal sense, note that it hasn't been that since Eisenhower.
Fourth: Reasonable environmental policy tempered with business.
Fifth: Stop bashing minorities, women, disabled, veterans, elderly, etc etc.
My thoughts are based on the fact that the demographics are changing, the longer the Republicans hold on to these outdated ideas, the more their party disappears from mainstream and slowly marginalizes the entire party.
