I just noticed this. Whenever I gift a unit to a city-state, it only keeps the unit for a set number of turns before automatically disbanding it. It's especially annoying when I'm trying to protect a city-state from another invading civ by gifting it units to defend itself with. After around 10 turns or so, the unit just disappears! I then have to build/gift another one to replace it while the invading AI takes the opportunity to advance.
Has anyone else encountered this bug? I'm sure the devs had some stupid reason or another for doing this (they always do), but it makes absolutely no sense, whatsoever-- especially when the city-state is desperately fighting for its very survival!
Either they fix that or they should just remove the option altogether. Since you only get about 2 influence points per unit, there's really no advantage to gifting them if they're just going to be disbanded after a few turns.
