I don't necessarily have an issue with it, but its not the first time the mod has given the horse units a better strength than the melee equivalents (swords/longswords).
Do people find horsemen and knights weak?
Personally I'm in the other camp. Horsemen and Knights devastate the battlefield even before the increase, both due to mobility and the healthy flanking bonuses they tend to accrue.
Meanwhile the melee units are primarily useful for defense, which the vanguard units perform well, and for taking cities. Except that my melee units don't useful actually attack the cities, they generally tank the damage while the catapults do all the work. So I personally have a harder time finding use for swords than I do horses.
It should also be noted that horses are a better resource than iron overall. You get them sooner, and they provide you happiness and production through the circus and stable. And with the stable they are 15% cheaper than swords/longswords.
