I don't have the pictures because I'm too lazy to post them.
Epic length, noble difficulty, standard sized map.
Players were:
Me - Peter
Nappy
Hatty
Charlie
Kublai
Gilgamesh
Orange
But what happened in this game that i'm playing right now:
The year is 1943 and I am Peter. I had a great early game since Napoleon attacked me on around 150th turn (Classical age) and I crushed him somehow which left me with a large piece of land. 100 turns later, I decided to attack my pacifist neighbor hatty. I took over most of her cities except for 2 small ones with bunch of macemen and trebs (this was somewhere around 1500 - 1600 AD). Hatty became a vassal of Charlemagne. Up until this point I had about 15 cities under my control, some are nearly useless while others are producing 120 beakers. At this point I had the DOMINANT position in the game with just under 3000 points (it was 2978) while 2nd place (charlie) had around 2000.
Right before 1800AD, I had a great amount of Cannons/cossacks and grenadiers and I attacked Gilgamesh who was still in late Renaissance age, his most powerful thing were some riflemen.
Boy:eek: how did it went wrong? I Thought it was gonna be a walk in the park but after I took over a city with my cossack and cannons, his ally Kublai Khan striked right back at me with a stack of about 15 riflemen and about 7 trebs. I lost the city that I captured but Kublai didn't really gain much. Gilgamesh on the other hand were killing my grenadiers with his riflemen (i don't get it?). To take revenge, I bribed Charlie into attacking Gilgamesh, but after just losing 2 of his cities, Gilgamesh surrendered and became another Charlie's vassal along there with Hatty.
This is when I noticed that Charlie is gaining on me....at that point I had 3200 pts while Charlie had 2600.
Then there comes the late 19th century. Orange asked me to join him on a war against Kublai and I agreed since I was planning on it anyways....This time I had the deadly artilleries and some Cossacks + infantries. I took 2 of Kublai's cities with ease and Orange took one as well....then guess what happened...he became vassal of Charlies:king:, yeah, that's right, Charlie had just became the most powerful without doing any fighting at all. I WAS PISSED:mad:
Then it arrived at the present point 1943 (500th turn). I am having a noticeable tech lead over Charlemagne especially after Orange decided to turn himself into my vassal, the score is me at 4600 and Charlie at 4300 and he is still pleased at me, but I fear it won;t be long.
Now you might be thinking? "what's wrong?", well the problem is that I have never ever had a war at this late of a game, I have almost no idea how to effectively use aircrafts and battleships. I also have no clue on what to build. At this point of the game, I can build Mobile SAM, tanks, marines, paratroopers and mobile artillery and bombers. Charlie cannot build aircrafts but he has access to marines and tanks. I also want to mention that I currently hold 2 mongolians but they are squished with only about 2/3 tiles so they are practically useless, it is also where my cossacks/artillery units reside but unfortunately i can't upgrade them.
I'm completely torn, I do not know what to build and what to research to win this game. I feel like time victory takes too long and I had never had experience with space victory...Cultural victory is way out of question for me and diplomatic is a no no for me since Charlie's vassals won't even open border with me.
Can someone give me tips on what to build and what to improve here?
thanks
