Trying knock off the achievement before BNW.
Here's what is said in Ragans excellent A Complete Guide to Achivement thread:
"He Threw a Car at My Head! - Have a barbarian capture a city. This is a notoriously difficult achievement, because the barbarians don't coordinate their attacks well enough to easily capture a city, and once they are wounded, they stop the attack. It is possible, however. In the base game (no Gods and Kings), this achievement is easier if you can attract a number of barbarian ships as well as ground units...since the ships don't take damage when attacking, they don't follow the same pattern of attack, and can bring a city's HP down easily, allowing a ground attack to work. In Gods and Kings, the barbarians will build melee ships first. (Thanks to joncnunn.)"
So I am playing Vanilla (yuck)
Picked Liz (so I can kill all more ships for the most boreing achievement).
One other player and no CS to make plenty of room for barbs to spawn.
An Archipelago Map (standard) to encourage barb ships.
Standard pace (that was a mistake because I prefer quick)
Renassiance start.
Dumbed down to Prince.
Anyhow it's now T383, sp that's nearly 200 turns played.
Placed cities in barbs faces, say there no garrison, don't shoot them and they still don't attack, then eventually my city cultural expansion kills the barb camp.
The only good thing about the game is in other parts of the map and near my real cities I've killed lots of barbs (including 8 odd destroyers) and my kill barb ship count is now 260 and I started the game with 55.
Any pointers on game play or game set up so I can tick this one off and have barbs capture one of my cities?
Thanks in advance.
