AI city placement, resources, promotions...

After playing a couple of games there are some things that cought my attention.
Let me preface my critique with saying that this is the best civ-mod i played so far.
There are some very nice concepts that add a lot to vanilla experience.

I didnt reach the industrial area in any game so i can only comment up late renaissance. Difficulty was emperor and immortal on at least standard sized maps on "realistic" and "semi-realistic" speed.


There doesnt seem to be a lot of active development here anymore but anyways:

AI city placement
We know from vanilla that city placement is one of things that the AI fails at regularly. Unfortunatly this problem is worse in the mod. For example I saw quite some cities placed on resources for no apparent reason and therefor losing out on tile bonuses. Other examples were two cities at the coast both missing the only two food tiles (fish) in the area by 1 tile. Or three cities forming a triangle and exactly missing four gold tiles in between their BFCs.
I have no insight into how the AI city placement works but it seems obvious that this might be a target for improvement. Was the city placement script adapted to the new resources that are crowding the map?

Resources
As mentioned in the bug-report thread previously i think there is not enough horses on most maps. The ratio of some luxury resources feels off as well. Saw cities with six or seven resources of the same kind. Might be worth a look balance-wise. If new resources are added, old scripts don't work well apparently.

(RandomScriptMap, Tectonics and standards, size: standard - huge, default options)

Promotions
Some of the new promotions feel overpowered. Especially Imperial Glory, Holy War and all III promotions with +43%. I often found myself slaugthering defending archers with city raider and cover promotion generals. The fact the AI often only defends with archers made this matter worse.

Units
I like the new unit classes althougt light mounted gave me a headache at first. Promotions against mounted units dont work against light mounted once:rolleyes:
Maybe Recon and Light Mounted could just me merged and the anti-recon promotion should be availible to more unit types.
