You know how a lot of folks go into a new game of CiV having planned out in their mind the style they go for? It's always funny when that goes horribly, horribly wrong due to the curveballs the AI throws at you.
For example, I started a game on a Fractal map, picking Alexander figuring I'll go a peaceful defensive City-State Alliance way, using religion and all that.
My neighbors were Genghis Khan, Atilla, Bismarck and Augustus Caesar. You can guess how THAT worked out. Prague, Zanzibar and Wittenberg stood no chance.
So whats your experiences with pre-game plans getting totally crushed?
