Multiplayer on the same iTunes account?

Hi,

My son and I share an iTunes account since he is a minor. Can we play each other in a game of Revolution multiplayer? He on his ipod and me on my iphone? I am not wanting to spend the $2.99 to unlock multiplayer if we cannot play each other. Anyone know?
