For some reason I have been obsessed with playing on Maze maps. If you don't even know what that is, one of the custom map generators is called Maze. It lets you choose how wide the land plots are, and makes a maze of land and water.
Thematically speaking, I like to imagine some greater power created the planet and put life on it just to see what would happen.
These maps have a few pretty interesting attributes. For example any given civ will almost always share exactly 2 borders with other civs. This tends to keep wars very controlled and minimal. On the other hand, you can get almost anywhere by water or by land.
I have played about 4 games on maze, with a variety of options. My current game is the first I am looking to win, I am using 3-plot wide land and tropical climate.
Anyone else have a favorite map type they like to use? (Not a boring one like continents... we have all been there.)
