Farm Counting System

Hi! I was wondering if there is a way to count how many food city needs to grow up to pop 20 for instance, with no GPs or angry citizens. This might be the key to run cottage economy since you could count how many farms is needed and cottage/mine the other tiles. Actually I've just read about one tactic but I don't know does it work. In that strategy you count tiles with 0 food as -2, tiles with 1 food as -1, tiles with 2 food as 0 and tiles with 3 food as 1 and so on. If you counted all tiles in and got positive number your city will get 20 pop if no GPs or angry citizens count. And I think that you had to add +2 to that number because of the tile where the city is standing or something... I don't know am I right. If someone knows the strategy I'd like to know does it really work and in what is it based on. Thanks (and sorry for that I couldn't use enter once again :lol: )
