I was thinking on this, just now after imbibing, as someone who raised as a heathen I always assumed that upon death I would be devoured by a great never-ending void of darkness and black and non-existence so I never troubled myself to think too much of it.
However the passing of some relatives compelled me to note that it was not just me the heathen who assumed that this truly was the final song, that was distraught, but everyone else was. Even those who believed that an afterlife of some sort existed. They were much distraught. Perhaps even more than me. You would assume that it would not be the case? For if you believe in an afterlife why mourn those who have gone to it? Strange.
What do you make of this? Why do you mourn? Presumably you will join them yes? Don't interpret this as an attack. I'm simply curious and drunk. Drunkenness makes me think of such things. But why should you be more upset about the death than someone who assumes that there is simply a nothingness?
