You are to spread the Word of God amongst the savage heathens of the New World. Earn your place in Heaven: The Mother of God will smile upon you for every soul that you wrest from the diabolic rites of the heathens and win for Christianity. However, there are also earthly rewards to be gained: The Pope in Rome is deeply concerned that the competition between the great Christian nations of Spain and Portugal could lead to a discord in Christianity. They are both competing against each other over supremacy in the Americas. Therefore, in all his wisdom, the Holy Father has spoken a Solomonic judgement. Whoever claims the higher amount of converted heathens by the specified date will receive the Pope's blessing to call the vast Amazon basin their own.
At the end of turn 200 the number of converted natives you as governor of the Spanish colonies call your own is calculated in comparison to your competitor, the Portuguese governor. For each converted native exceeding the numbers of your opponent, you will gain one victory point. If you have less converted natives than the Portuguese colonies, you will receive negative victory points. If you get involved in a war and have to resign before the effective end date of the game, your game will not count for the ranking.
Every converted native shown in the unit list towards the end of turn 200 will be counted. The unit list can be accessed via the "F5" key. This includes all converted natives inside and outside of cities. How you obtain converted natives - through missions, founding fathers, or conquest - is up to you. Our map shows the Northern part of South America. On the map are the Spanish and Portuguese colonies, as well as Tupi, Arawak and Inca. All victory conditions, random events and quests have been disabled.
