I can't believe it, but in spite of my complete Civ ineptitude I managed a regular deity win today (I won once before, but it was marathon on Earth with Rome, so basically settler difficulty...)! I just fired up Civ, thought 'I could try Giggles, protective should be less bad on deity, and maybe I can go for the oracle since I could use priesthood anyway...'. And one and half hour later, I had a deity win.

So I thought to share the start, which is on one hand pretty good (but no way near HoF), but... there's complications.

Settings: Pangea, normal speed, no huts no events

My own game (1808 AD Culture):

Early techpath AH -> mining -> myst -> masonry -> poly -> priesthood.
I got boxed in very early, and with only three solid city sites (which ended up as the legendaries), I felt quite screwed. But I was able to oracle CoL, and kept up in tech for quite a while. I went Aesthetics -> Literature -> Music -> Lib (didn't come even close to winning it). Built Parthenon, TGL and Sistine in capital, and that was it for wonders. Had 4 religions spread to me, so that was good. Settled three more crappy cities just for the temples, and then went for culture. Even flipped several cities as they changed hands around me (avoided any war, and just played the hindus vs. buddhists, and sicced Shaka on Wang at the crucial moment).
