Hi guys,
I'm new to modding and have a few questions about modding trade routes.
I'm interested in making a leader trait similar to Hiawartha's warpath, but one that would use rivers to establish trade routes. I know that this has been a key feature in previous civ games, and that it was very intentionally left out of civ v, but nonetheless I feel like it could work as a balanced trait in the right conditions.
I also know that this isn't an easy task, so I'm asking you guys: Is it possible? If so, what is my best bet to make this happen?
I'm just confused with how forest tiles are used to establish trade routes (in Hiawartha's case), because everything to do with routes in the xml seems improvement specific. Did they just program invisible roads somewhere somehow? Further, I had a hard time figuring out how to work with rivers in the XML. Are rivers considered a feature?
Hopefully one of you can provide some insight! Thanks for your consideration and help.
