Science Fiction Era Thread - Proposal.
This is a proposal to launch an alternate era which has ideas from all sorts of popular science fiction that we love. It could run simultaneously to the future eras, or coincide with the modern, retro-future, cyber-punk, or post-apocalyptic ones. It distinguishes itself from the other future eras by covering ideas from popular and unpopular science fiction, movies, books, roleplaying games, comic books, etc. that are not already part of the future eras or things that people just want to play in C2C/CIV! (Great place to distinguish the less plausible stuff as well.) This is not a small amount of material that is available to find.
This is just to open discussion on our favorites. Like the other eras I am sure it will take a lot of time to develop. I hope to start ongoing discussion here and Now!
10 Star Wars Technologies We Actually Want

2. Mechanical Limbs (actually have an article showing that this has completely come true - need to find it!)
3. Lightsabers - The Closest thing to this is made by Wicked Lasers.
4. Vaporators
5. Holograms - I think a tablet sized commercial device is hitting the market this year and will be $800, also MIT made the prediction that in 2 years Holograms will be available to all that meet the Princess Leia in Star Wars projection. (I have that article as well and will have to link.
6. Speedy Space Travel (LightSpeed) - Nasa is developing Warp drives and already has a Ion drive (both Star Trek not Star Wars of Course!)
7. Hovercraft - We have a Mag-Lev train in China.
8. Carbonite -
9.Battle Droids - yes, please!
10. Super Microscopes -(If we can see atoms then we pretty much have this already - I will have to provide the link I have later)
11. Force Fields - Yes they have working force fields (links to come.)
