Multiplayer Teamer Discussion

Good day CIV Fans….

Around six months ago I decided to jump into Multiplayer for the first time and since then I have been hooked on team play consisting of 2vs2 or 3vs3 mainly. I wanted to create a thread to hopefully discuss and share different tactics, tips or opening strategies that may help myself, new and experiences players alike on improving their team play in multiplayer.

*I usually play games were GW, shift-moving and no waiting for last second to attack allowed*

The basics:

I usually open with Shrine, Momentum, scout, worker, archer, settler, archer, settler, granary, worker etc. I usually chop all forest on my ring to speed up the opening buildings. Good idea or bad?

Question: Is Granary coming too late on this build order? When do you decide to build libraries? I usually start thinking about a library once my capital hits 6 pop.

What’s your usual build order?

My first settler always settles towards my opponent hopefully on a hill surrounded by mountains. Its goal is to set a defensive barrier even if no lux around the ring.
If playing 3vs3 and I was placed in the back I settler towards my closest teammate to speed distance my troops can provided reinforcements in the shortest time possible.

My main goal in to settle 4 cities ASAP followed by some troops and key building (granary, market & watermill) and then resume my expansion until I can no longer.

Question: What your usually build order for your second and third cities? I’m having a hard time deciding. Usually I go Momentum followed by granary unless I need archers or bows then these become priority.

Policies: I go liberty, republic, settler, and worker, etc.

Wonders: Maybe a flaw on my game but 95% of the time I never build a wonder unless
I get a GE or it’s somewhat of a combo with the Civilization I’m playing. Example: Persia and Chichen Itza wonder.

Good strategy or bad?

Technology: Straight to Machinery (after key techs are researched like writing, calendar etc.). *key note*: On team play everybody on your team should be on same tech. Is this the ideal tech path?

Any suggestions, criticism or thoughts are more than welcome!!! Hopefully we can all learn!!!
